France is the most visited country in the world, receiving over 80 million tourists every year. The French are infamous for often being on strike, resulting in cancelled flights, trains, etc. If they could issue the rest of the world with calendars of their future strike dates so people know when to not visit, it would certainly be much appreciated.
Colmar is a city in Alsace. With numerous half-timbered houses, canals and a flower-decked town centre, it's one of the prettiest places in France.
Paris is often touted as one of the most romantic cities in the world. The Eiffel Tower and the Louvre are indeed huge crowd drawers but I personally found the city to be very overrated. Paris is dingy and expensive. It was as enjoyable as a visit to the dentist.
